About Us
Canoe Ridge Kennels is our dream come true. We are a farm family
residing northeast of Decorah, Iowa and are pleased to open our farm to you and
your pets. We have livestock on our farms and understand the
responsibility and commitment it takes to care for animals. We work
together as a team to accomplish our goals. In 2003, I have been blessed
with the opportunity to design and build a new boarding facility for which I am
thankful. I'd like to welcome you to Winneshiek County, Iowa and Canoe
Ridge Kennels.
I inherited my love of dogs at a very early age from my father. I was
the little girl that cried over every episode of Lassie, the teenager who cried
in the movie theatre during Old Yeller and Where The Red Fern Grows, and I still
wear my heart on my sleeve as it concerns dogs.
As you can see by the photos, my father and I share a common bond in our love
of dogs. As the kennel went up, he and his carpentry skills were
here to make my dreams become a reality. As a child, I spent endless hours
with our dogs, dressing them up in ridiculous outfits. Rather than
dressing up dolls, I dressed up the dogs! I went on to show my Irish
Setters at the 4-H fair and continued at some UKC bench shows. I had
aspirations in high school of becoming a small animal veterinarian but chose an
alternative career path. I am excited about the opportunity to work with
you as customers and to spend time with your pets.
My love of dogs has been contagious. My son and husband have been
bitten by the bug and are very supportive in helping to obtain my personal
goals. We will work together as a team to provide your pet a safe and
caring environment.
Since 1997, I have owned Boxers and more recently, Soft Coated Wheaten
Terriers. We have an existing kennel for our family pets. We
occasionally have Boxers and Wheaten Terrier puppies available for companion
purposes. Please take a look at the Pick of the Litter area to view
available puppies or photos of previous litters. I have the
commitment and compassion necessary to nurse a weak puppy back to health, the
discipline it takes to bottle feed every few hours, and the drive to raise
healthy, happy puppies. I actively read pet publications about health and
behavioral issues and will do my best to stay educated about topics related to
proper pet care. I pledge to you to care for your pet as if it were my
own.
Thank you for visiting our site. We
appreciate your business.
